Twitch Launches Music Library in Beta For Streamers

by Andrew Hughes

Twitch is introducing a library of music on its site after recently muting all third-party audio on all past broadcasts and highlights. A recent FAQ by Twitch explains: “Demonstrating that gamers are valuable to music artists and labels is important for the future growth of Twitch and the larger gaming industry.”

The list, available at music.twitch.tv, was originally focused on EDM (electronic dance music); however, Twitch plans on going forward by including music from all genres.

There is a selection of just over 500 songs so far, includes the likes of Approaching Nirvana, SeamlessR, Hundred Waters and Koan Sound, with more to come. Twitch is accepting applications for musicians interested in contributing.

Twitch promises tracks in their library are not susceptible to muting in highlights or past broadcasts; however, the songs no longer retain their status when exported to YouTube or websites outside of Twitch.
