Sony announced today that the PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console of 2014, surpassing Xbox One and the Wii U, its main competitors. The PS4 has sold 18.5 million units since its launch in 2013.
Despite Sony’s celebration, Microsoft has boasted the Xbox One as the best-selling console in the months of November and December. Microsoft also claims the Xbox One sold the most games in the same months.
In a list of the best-selling games of 2014, nine of the top ten titles were released for the Xbox One and the PS4; not to mention all nine of these titles were also released on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Sony continues looking forward, as one of their spokesmen claim: “We are looking forward to another momentous year in 2014 and bringing an epic line-up of titles to PlayStation fans around the world.”
