Nickelodeon network posted a video announcement today, seen here, on their website stating a new season of The Legend of Korra will be released.
According to the video, the new season will be called "Book Four: Balance." The video also stated that the season will air on October 3 on the Nick app with subsequent episodes airing every Friday online, continuing the trend of internet only releases. Legend of Korra was taken off-air in the middle of Book Three and aired exclusively online.
This news was also confirmed via Twitter when the Nickelodeon account retweeted an announcement from PJ Byrne, the voice actor for Bolin.

Legend of Korra co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino starred in the announcement video and are excited for the new season.“...It’s going to be awesome,” DiMartino stated with a smile.
This news comes unexpectedly as the previous season ended a few weeks ago. Hopefully the show satisfies the fan base that has built so far.
