Battleborn is the newest game announced by Gearbox Software, developer of Borderlands, Brothers in Arms, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Game Informer's latest cover reveal shows the game's characters, set in a "fusion of first-person shooting and loot-grabbing RPG elements in a living comic book art style."
The game will also feature creeps, quick leveling, and characters similar to MOBAs such as DOTA 2 and League of Legends. Surprisingly enough, the game will feature a "dramatic story" in its co-op campaign.
A competitive multiplayer mode will also feature in the game.
"As a genre-fused, hobby-grade, co-operative and competitive FPS exploding with eye-popping style and an imaginative universe," said Gearbox president Randy Pitchford, "Battleborn is the most ambitious
Battleborn's plot takes place in a "distant future, the only hope for the last star in a dying universe is a new breed of warriors, who must put aside their differences to drive back an unstoppable menace."
Battleborn is scheduled to release in the 2016 fiscal year, according to Gearbox and 2K.
