Today Walmart announced plans to begin taking video game and hardware trade-ins. Starting March 26, customers who decide to trade their games to the store or to the Walmart website (which is the only way to trade in hardware) will receive a gift card that can be used at any Walmart or Sam's Club. All exchanged products will be "refurbished and made available for purchase in like-new condition at a great low price."
What gives Walmart a distinct edge over Gamestop, the primary competition in this market, is Walmart's exchange rate calculator, which has customers answer a few questions to see just how much they will be getting for their games and hardware.
Walmart's new trade-in program will begin Wednesday, March 26.
