Mojang's Nathan Adams revealed that over one million people were playing Minecraft over the weekend.
For the first time ever, we finally have the capability to see how many people are currently playing Minecraft right now. Holy crap.

There are currently over 998,000 people playing Minecraft right at this moment. It is not even remotely close to being a peak time.

The number is the total of all the players that are playing on PC, Mac, and Linux with a version higher than 1.3. The number would be larger but it doesn’t include offline players or people didn’t pay for the game.It was also revealed that Minecraft has started to become more popular than the most played game on Steam, Dota 2.
