Microsoft Revealed Cortana for Windows 10
by Nick Dowell
Microsoft is bringing Cortana, the voice-search function on Windows phones, to Windows 10.
Cortana will exist as a search box near the Start button the desktop. Any results from a search will appear above the search bar. It will be able to perform simple searches, but also look up more detailed information, like flight statuses.
It can also perform more secretarial functions, like sending emails or setting up reminders.
Microsoft also unveiled Cortana's appearance on smaller devices. Instead of existing as a pop-up above the task bar, it will take up the entire screen, much like it currently does on Windows phones. The user interface is sleek and easy to follow with its white background and large buttons.
Much like its phone counterpart, Cortana will be accessible through voice commands, as well as text commands.
Testers for Windows 10 can expect to receive Cortana over the next several months. There is no date for a street release of Windows 10 as of now.
