A trailer for the CW's upcoming iZombie, based on the popular comic series by Chris Roberson and Mike Allred, released this week, giving a brief insight to the new show.
Being produced by Veronica Mars' Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright, iZombie follows Liv, a medical resident turned zombie just trying to avoid being discovered. She gets her brain fix by working in a coroner's office, feeding on the recently found dead. Despite covering her tracks, her boss discovers her condition and excitedly helps Liv solve crimes and track down the zombie who turned her.
The trailer below reveals more about the situation, such as Liv's ability to get glimpses into the pasts of those she consumes.
The trailer does reveal a distinct departure from the source material. In the 28-issue comic, the protagonist's name is Gwen and instead of in a coroner's office, she works in a graveyard burying the deceased. Her roommate is a ghost from the 1960s and one of her closest friends is Scott, a were-terrier. The three of them worked together to fight various organizations that hunt down the paranormal.
Only time will tell if the characters from the comic will make their way into the new show.
iZombie premieres on the CW Tuesday, March 17.
