Dota 2 banned from Internet cafés in the Phillippines

by Nick Dowell

Dota 2, one of the biggest multiplayer games in the world, is being banned in Internet cafés all over the Philippines.

When in Manila released an image of an alleged ordinance banning the game, citing concern for the well-being of children as motivation.

A rough translation of the ordinance said:
"Dear countrymen, we will be pushing on with this town resolution because we believe this is the right thing to do for the children who are often seen causing trouble, cussing, cutting classes, gambling, staying up late, fighting, and ignoring their studies. We love the children and we will not allow their future to be ruined. Thank you for your support and understanding."
The news was confirmed by a story ran by a major Filipino news network, GMA News.

Any café that violates the ordinance can face a variety of punishments, from month-long suspensions to revocation of their business license.
