New Wii U Legend of Zelda Footage Revealed

by Nick Dowell

Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto and series' lead producer Eiji Aonuma unveiled new footage for the next game in the Legend of Zelda franchise. The two discussed the game while Aonuma played a demo.

While the footage didn't show off much plot or gameplay, fans were given a glimpse of the sheer scope of the game, as seen in the image below.

An exciting point was the lack of control needed for horse riding. While riding Epona, Link's steed, Aonuma stated that players won't need to steer her while doing mounted combat.

"Real horses don't run into trees very often," he said.

Aonuma also showed off a cool bow and arrow mechanic, where it appears that if players jump off Epona, they can pause mid-air for a time to shoot at an enemy.

Some of the other minor details shown off were insect and animal life in the world. Aonuma even confirmed that players can pick apples off trees and eat them.

The two also talked about some of Nintendo's other titles being released next year, like a new Star Fox project being worked on by Miyamoto and the release of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D.

The currently unnamed Legend of Zelda game for the Wii U will release sometime in 2015.
