Walmart changed their policies after scammers took advantage of their ad-match guarantee, which reads: “If you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it.”
Said scammers created fake Amazon seller accounts, promising the consoles for prices as low as $50. As a result, buyers were temporarily able to buy PS4s from Walmart for the identical price, much lower than list value.
According to a Walmart representative, their ad-match guarantee will no longer acknowledge “marketplace vendors, third-party sellers, auction sites, or sites requiring memberships.”
