Overwatch was revealed this weekend at BlizzCon, a team-based multiplayer first person shooter developed by Blizzard. Alongside the announcement, Blizzard also released a teaser trailer, and are featuring a demo at the convention.
The game revolves around a special task force of heroes once entrusted with keeping peace. Overwatch, as the group is called, watch over a futuristic world where both technology and magic are prominent.
Overwatch looks to be a fast-paced high mobility shooter, with characters wielding tools such as grappling hooks and powers such as flying and teleportation. The gameplay also seems to be class based, with each character having a unique loadout and style of gameplay.
This is Blizzard’s first new IP in many year’s, but Chris Metzen, a developer for the game, said at BlizzCon that Overwatch will be out “sooner than you think.” A beta is planned to be released sometime next year.
