Hacker Finds Way to Exploit 3DS with Unpopular Game
by Carmen Schwierking
The Ubisoft game Cubic Ninja has cracked the way into homemade games for the 3DS.
Jordan "Smealum" Rabet posted about his success on the GBAtemp forums earlier this week. The only necessary items are a copy of the game Cubic Ninja, an SD card, and an internet connection.
The exploit works on "versions from 4.0 to 9.2, all consoles 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, N3DS, N3DS XL," according to Rabet. There are a lot of ways that it can be used and the forums users are planning on making it possible to use games, applications and emulators. It will not, however, make pirated games usable.
Cubic Ninja copies are now jumping in price. They were once $3 and have gone now as high as $500.
Nintendo has historically been very fast to patch out hacking 3DS software so it likely they will do the same with this. If given more time, the community might have time to make some new homemade games.
