by Graham Taylor

Google confirmed Tuesday, Jan. 28, that its internet service, Google Fiber, will be introduced to four new cities: Atlanta, Georgia; Nashville, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

Already established in three United States cities, Google Fiber is a super fast internet service, offering 1GB upload/download speed, advertising itself as 100 times faster than most other basic internet service providers. Fiber also provides a TV service, which includes a two terabyte DVR and the ability to stream live TV from tablet devices.

Google has also expressed interest in expanding the service furthering, citing five metropolitan areas as potential future locations.

There is currently no official estimate of when the service will be ready in the four new cities, but Google has announced that they are going to spend the next few months planning the network before construction even begins.
