X-Men: Apocalypse to Recast Old Favorites

by Andi Tolentino

Rumors of recasting fan favorite characters are circulating just days after Bryan Singer was confirmed to be directing X-Men: Apocalypse.

The three characters fans can expect to see recast are James Marsden (Cyclops), Famke Jannsen (Jean Grey), and Halle Berry (Storm).

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to take place in the 1980s, at least 10 years after Days of Future Past and 20 years before the trio was introduced in the original trilogy. If they were to show up in Apocalypse, they would require recasting to reflect their much younger ages, though Kinberg only says that is the case if they are used. He also admits that doing a recast would be difficult to do:
"It'd be very hard to do, because Halle, Famke, and Jimmy [Marsden] and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those characters to life. But I also would have said before First Class that there would be no actors who can stand alongside Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart."
It has been confirmed that Evan Peters is set to return as Quicksilver in a larger capacity than in Days. Channing Tatum has also been hinting at Gambit playing a role as well.

In the event they are recast, here's hoping fans find out soon who will take on the roles.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to premiere May 27, 2016.
