CBS has announced that they picked up a show based around the DC heroine Supergirl. The protagonist, Kara Zor-El, who is Superman's cousin, and has had her full powers for years and at 24 years old has decided to take responsibility as a hero.
The official description is below:
Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-el escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.Who knows what she’s been doing with her incredible speed, strength, and durability until that point, but it will probably be explained during the first season if there are any structural cues taken from arrow.
Like all of DC’s recent shows this one has been working closely with Geoff Johns, the Chief Creative Officer at DC. Other writers on the show are Greg Berlanti (Arrow), and Ali Adler (Chuck, No Ordinary Family).
At this time there is no timeline on the release of the series or the pilot.
