Starting September 20, the
new 3DS consoles can be pre-ordered with Pokémon themed faceplates through
Japan’s Pokémon Center stores. The suede templates available are Groudon for
the red Groudon Edition and Kyogre for the blue Kyogre Edition.
The front of the 3DS
console will display the Pokémon’s primal version while the back will display
the Pokémon’s non-primal version. Both will include a custom home screen. The
cost of each console is $177. Furthermore, the consoles will not come bundled
with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire,
even though both are scheduled to be released on November 21.
While the Pokémon consoles
are only confirmed for Japan so far, a Super
Smash Bros. edition of the 3DS XL will be available in Europe (October 3)
and North America (September 19). The console will cost $199, according to
GameStop Expo.
Like the Pokémon versions, the Super Smash Bros. console will not come
bundled with the new game, which will be released on October 3 in North America
and Europe.
The characters featured on
the cover are Link, Mario, Pikachu, Pit, the villager from Animal Crossing,
Samus Aran, Kirby, Marth, Yoshi, Little Mac, and Rosalina and Luma.
Ads for the console can be
found on the Wii U’s eShop.
