"Shadow Realms" Announced by EA, Alpha Sign-Ups Begin

EA announced a brand new IP today, titled "Shadow Realms," a 4v1 online, story-driven action RPG developed by Bioware Austin.

Shadow Realms pits four players against another player-controlled enemy, called "Shadowlord" in dynamic co-op missions. The title's overarching narrative will play out in the form of episodic releases, according to EA.

“This game brings us back to our roots in the realm of classic Pen and Paper RPG, but also delivers something that’s completely new and innovative for our fans,” said Jeff Hickman, General Manager and Vice President at BioWare Austin.

Shadow Realms' plot follows the adventures of Modern Heroes on Earth, awakened due to magical powers. Heroes are recruited to fight against the Shadow Legions of Embra. The Shadow Legion, after years of war on Embra, has finally found out how to invade Earth.

Shadow Realms, which currently has no release date, will release on Origin for PC. EA has begun sign-ups for a closed alpha here.
