UPDATE: Amazon has officially purchased Twitch. According to Amazon, the purchase price will be $970 million in cash.
Twitch gave a press release, which can be seen here. The CEO of Twitch, Emmett Shear also released a "thank you" letter to the public that can be read here.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The online video stream service Twitch is being purchased by Amazon for over $1 billion, the Wall Street Journal and The Information say. The announcement of the purchase should be coming shortly, possibly even today.
This news comes a month after a report that a deal between Twitch and Google had been "confirmed," which apparently was not true.
