New Fire Emblem Characters Join Smash Bros.

by Travis Robinson

A trailer reveals three new playable characters in Nintendo's upcoming Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U: Fire Emblem: Awakening's Lucina and Robin and long time Smash Bro Captain Falcon.

Robin is the player's custom character in the 3DS game and starts out being able to wield tomes and swords. He or she has the same weapons in Smash Brothers and they have carried over the limited use of items from the Fire Emblem games to the character. His or her tomes can only be used a certain amount of times per match. When Robin is out of uses he or she can use the Levin sword, which has lightning based properties.

Lucina's attacks appear to be entirely sword-based, but she also seems to be quick, meaning she won't be a simple opponent.

Another character seen is Chrom, another character from FE:A, who is not joining the game as a fighter, but will be seen in the game as part of Robin's final smash.

Captain Falcon appears to have the same abilities as he has had in the past games, but has a slightly different looking costume.

These additions bring the number of players on the roster to 36.
