Microsoft has confirmed it will no longer be enforcing Xbox Live Gold subscriptions to users for access to media streaming services, such as as Netflix and Hulu.
The announcement doesn't come without a few caveats, as the inclusion of Xbox Live Gold paywalls for other services may be implemented to account for the financial losses brought about by this change. No confirmation on what those services may be was made available at this time, though it may likely be the recently announced Xbox Originals programming coming in June.
Sources from within Microsoft revealed to ArsTechnica that the changes in policy may have been influenced by changes in Xbox's executive power structure after the departure of Don Mattrick to become CEO of Zynga.
