By Jake Doolin
In a surprising move, Sony has announced its selling its entire stake of 9.52 million shares in Square Enix. This sale is set to gain Sony a gain of 4.8 billion yen (around 47 million). As of now Sony was the third-largest shareholder in Square with an 8.2 percent equity.
Sony says that they are selling the shares to SMBC Nikko Securities Inc, one of Japan’s leading financial security companies. The sales price will be announced tomorrow, and we won’t know the reason behind this sale till Sony’s full year financial results are shown on May 14.
