Uncharted 4 Lead Writer Leaves Naughty Dog

By Joseph Knoop

Amy Hennig, lead writer of Uncharted 4 and creative director of the Uncharted series, has left Naughty Dog studios.

Verified sources close to Naughty Dog studios confirmed Hennig's departure. March 3 was her last day present.

Hennig was acting as the lead writer and developer on Uncharted 4, much like her involvement in the previous three Uncharted titles and had recently reached a 10-year anniversary with the company.

Uncharted 3 suffered from no shortage of annoying gameplay problems and lackluster story points. While Hennig certainly grew with the series' engaging story and gameplay, the latest installment certainly didn't garner as much critical adoration.

Naughty Dog has yet to release a statement.

UPDATE: Sony has issued the following statement:

"We can confirm that Amy Hennig has left Naughty Dog. Amy has made significant contributions to the game industry and we appreciate all she has done for Naughty Dog. The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted."
The same sources who broke the story of Hennig's departure also claim that she was "forced out" by The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann, and game director Bruce Straley.

The two directors will reportedly take control over the development of Uncharted 4.
