Twitch Plays Pokemon - Victory and Updates!

By Travis Robinson

All hail the Helix! Today marks the first ever "Helix Day" after Twitch Plays Pokemon finally defeated the Elite 4 early this morning. The adventure came to a close after 16 days, seven hours, 50 minutes and 19 seconds. Now all of the memes and articles about it can stop, right? Wrong. After the game was completed, fans looked to Lord Helix to tell them what to do next, and the video turned into this:

The game that the channel is playing has changed its title from "Pokemon Red/Blue" to "Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal," with a countdown clock until the next journey begins. The new season of Twitch Plays Pokemon is set for March 2nd at 7:00 a.m EST. The collective consciousness of the internet will start a new journey and you can bet that there will be all new religions and politics created.

The official Super Smash Bros. website has posted new pictures today for the upcoming game on the Wii U and 3DS. One photo shows a picture of Dedenne, one of the Pokemon from the latest generation sold. Dedenne, however, will not be playable, instead acting as an in-game item housed inside a pokeball. No release date has been set at this time, but it is nice to see that this game isn't just using the same Pokemon items as the game before it.

Today is also the day that Pokemon has made its streaming debut on Netflix, with episodes from the Indigo League and Black & White seasons. The movies "Pokemon White: Victini and Zekrom" and "Pokemon Black: Victini and Reshiram" also debuted on Netflix. They are the first Pokemon movies to be shown in theaters in America since 2002 when "Pokemon Heroes" was released.
