Steam Debuts New "Tag" Feature

By Brian Cook

Valve, creators of Steam, have debuted their "Tags" feature on the popular distribution platform, which allows for users of Steam to categorize games into different sections. Obviously, this isn't a different feature for the internet, but a new feature Steam hopes to help classify games in a way that are easier for players to find, buy, and play.

Obviously, some people have taken to trolling the new feature. Users have begun using tags such as "garbage" and the eloquent "my life was ruined because of this."

Users can also browse by tags recommended for them, such as "visual novel" or "platformer." Steam even allows for tags in multiple languages.

The new feature is live, and you can begin sorting games for other users.

Quick Note:

The feature comes at a time where Steam is trying out a lot of new features and things to help make the "Steam Machines" more advanced when they begin to roll out. A study last year done by Steam and a 3rd party shows that Steam users actually spend more time looking for games to buy than actually playing the games they have. [Story]
