After releasing a short teaser trailer, Marvel officially unveiled the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The trailer gives some brief insight into the characters of the story without giving too much away in terms of plot.
The cast playing the Guardians are Chris Pratt (Andy on Parks and Rec) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (Neytiri in Avatar) as Gamora, professional wrestler Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon. The movie also features Karen Gillan (Amy Pond on Doctor Who) and John C. Reilly on the roster.
IMDb describes the movie's plot as: "In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan."
Guardians of the Galaxy releases to theaters August 1.
