After Todd McFarlane’s anti-hero comic series Spawn ran for 250 issues over multiple decades, a change of staff was announced for the issues 251 and continuing. McFarlane’s final issue will bring back Al Simmons for the first time since his villainous Image United appearance.
While McFarlane had originally picked Brian Wood as the new writer for his series along with artist Jonboy Meyers, creative differences brought Wood to leave the series. More recently, a new writer was announced at Image Expo this afternoon.
Paul Jenkins is the newly-selected writer, unlike Wood and Meyers, he has prior experience with Spawn thanks to his work on mini-series Spawn: The Undead. Plans to complete and release one-off Spawn Resurrection are alive and well despite the new writer.
Spawn Resurrection and Spawn #251 are both planned for release in the coming months, with the former in February and the latter in March of this year.
