Nintendo has announced a new partnership with GungHo Online Entertainment to combine the popular Puzzle & Dragons series with Mario. Puzzle & Dragon: Mario Bros Edition is headed to the 3DS on April 29 of this year. The game is Japan exclusive for now and is priced at 4,000 yen.
Puzzle & Dragon might be unfamiliar to some North American audiences, but in Japan the series is skyrocketing in popularity. Since it's debut on iOS in 2012 the game has been download over 23 million times in Japan and 6 million times in North America.
Besides the game, many are commenting on Nintendo licensing it characters other companies, with Nintendo President Satoru Iwata saying the company plans on expanding it's character licensing business due to the "possibilities in licensing character IP in areas Nintendo has never worked before."
No word yet on when North America might see a launch of the game.
