Microsoft has issued an apology over late Xbox 360 payments. All indie developers for the console have yet to receive payment for their works. The company claimed that there was a glitch in the company’s payment system and that they did not purposefully suppress sales.
In its statement, Microsoft said, “Due to a technical issue in our payment system, we recently learned that some payments to select developers in the Xbox Live Indie Games program on Xbox 360 were delayed," Microsoft said in a statement. "Our partners are important to us and we work hard to help make sure they have a great development experience. This was an unfortunate error and we are working hard to fix it. We apologize for this incident and anticipate developers will receive payments within the next two weeks.”
With the rapidly approaching holiday season, the payment conditions are not exactly what the indie developers were hoping for. Microsoft has been making sure to follow through on compensations before Christmas and New Year’s arrives.
Microsoft also points out that Xbox One indie developers have escaped from the glitch.
It is still unclear how the glitch occurred in the first place and why it only affected Xbox 360 indie developers. The reports of Microsoft’s late payments were reported on December 3.
