Halo 5 Beta Will Be In 720p

by Andi Tolentino

If you were hoping for the Halo 5 multiplayer beta to be in best definition, bad news. It will only be 720p.

The beta will have 60 frames per second. The resolution will be lower in order to provide the frame rate and some tweaking.

343 Industries' Josh Holmes made clear that beta will run at the sub-1080p resolution and said the final version of the game will “look amazing.”

“For the beta, at this point we’re totally focused on gameplay.”…”We’re midway through development. We’re balancing and turning the gameplay systems. All of the polish and optimization graphically is stuff that typically comes towards the end of the production cycle.”

“So, for the beta, we’re going to be coming out at 720p and 60fps. That’s not the final resolution for the game. You can imagine as we go through the remainder of the project we’ll be focused on polishing the visual look of the game. You can expect it will look amazing when it comes out.”

Players who buy The Master Chief Collection for the Xbox One will have a guaranteed spot in the beta.

343 Industries also showed some new features, maps, gameplay and new player abilities. The beta will be open on December 21.
