"Xbox Originals" Coming Soon

by Joseph Knoop

Microsoft will be bringing a slew of exclusive new film and television content to Xboxes in June, according to a post on the company's official site.

Dubbed "Xbox Originals," the content will feature various films and television shows developed specifically for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and other Microsoft devices.

The content will include two scripts based on the Halo franchise, with Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott attached to the projects.

Xbox hopes that the additional content will reinforce consumers' desire to use the Xbox One as an everything-in-one entertainment device.

"I know full well from my years spent at traditional TV networks that creating a lineup of hit shows isn’t easy. It's the beginning of a long journey, but we’re incredibly excited to be on our way,” said Nancy Tellem, President of Xbox Entertainment Studios.

The lineup of content includes the aforementioned Halo projects, a Bonnaroo music festival documentary, "Every Street United," a street soccer talent search featuring Edgar Davids and Thierry Henry, and "Signal to Noise," a six-film documentary on the history of Atari.
