Exploding Kittens is the most backed Kickstarter ever

by Nick Dowell

Exploding Kittens, a card game by the Matthew Inman, creator of The Oatmeal, has become the most backed Kickstarter campaign ever. Kickstarter confirmed the news with the below tweet:
While the project hasn't raised the most money, it does have the most people backing it, with 112,059 backers at the time writing.

According to the game's Kickstarter page, exploding Kittens is a "highly strategic kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette." In the game, players keep drawing cards until someone draws an exploding kitten card and loses the game. Players can avoid losing with various traps that people can play.

The campaign for the project started Tuesday, January 20 asking for $10,000 and was completely backed in just 20 minutes. At time of writing, the game has raised over 4 million dollars.

The game still has 22 days left until backing closes down. Those interested in pre-ordering the game can do so on the Kickstarter page by paying $20 for "The Exploding Kittens Deck" and paying $35 for "The NSFW Deck."
