Indonesia Game Studio Raided
by Carmen Schwierking
The Gameloft Indonesia office was surprised on November 11 when police investigated their office.
Neighboring residents had reported that they believed the studio was an illegal online gambling area. The police came in the building to investigate.
The employees were doing their development tasks and testing games when the police came in. The employees were asked by the officers questions such as “what prizes are you winning?” and others.
The investigation quickly proved to be a false alarm. It was confirmed by the Police Commissioner Aryuniwati that a bust was attempted.
Employees tweeted and posted about the raid on Facebook including multiple statements that “a policeman even punched building security in the face.”
It was also said that the police tried to get in without a warrant.
An official statement has not been giving by Gameloft Studios.
