Papers, Please Developer Releases Demo for New Nautical Mystery Game

by Nick Dowell

Lucas Pope, creator of the indie hit Papers, Please released a playable demo for Return of the Obra Dinn on Windows PC systems. The demo is just a look at the project as he is working on it.

The game takes on a first-person perspective and is set in 1808 and follows a merchant ship called the Obra Dinn, which was thought to be long lost at sea. Six years after going "missing" the ship lands at port and the player must board the vessel to figure out what happened.

Pope warns that the demo is just that, a demo, and isn't anywhere near completion.

"This is a very early playable build," he says on his website. "There's not much content and it hasn't been tested. Progress is not saved."

Those interested in playing the early release can do so by going here.
