Red Barrels co-founder Philippe Morin has announced that Outlast 2 is currently in development.
Morin said that after the team finished Outlast and the DLC Outlast: Whistleblower they quickly realized that they had another horror game in them.
“The game will be a survival horror experience and it will take place in the same universe as Outlast, but it will have different characters and a different setting,” said Morin.
No time table has been set for the release of Outlast 2. Since Red Barrels is a small indie studio of only 12 people the development of the game might take some time but Morin says, “Hopefully it will be worth it.”
When asked about how Outlast 2 will surpass the original game Morin said, “We really want to keep on improving our craft, but ultimately we’ll approach things the same way we did with the first game, which was to make a game we’re scared to play ourselves and trust our instinct.”
Outlast and the DLC Outlast: Whistleblower are currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
