Xbox, turn Kinect off. Starting on June 9 Microsoft will be shipping Xbox One consoles without the Kinect. These Kinect-less Xbox Ones will retail for $399, which is $100 less than the Xbox Ones retailing now, and puts it on the same price level as Sony's PS4.
This announcement comes as a bit of a surprise as Microsoft had heavily bet on the Kinect software, making it one of the major selling points of their new console. But with this news the future, if any, of the Kinect looks much bleaker.
