Controversy
has sprung up over the use of pre-activation charges levied
against users of the free trial version of The Elder Scrolls Online. For
those new to the massively multiplayer online role-playing world, most
MMORPGs allow for a 30-day free trial of the game before players have to make a purchase. However it seems players utilizing that 30 day free
trial of the Elder Scrolls, they have until 8pm EST tonight to
input a credit card or lose access to the game.
Players
looking to use prepaid game cards are also running into problems with
this new system. Most retailers are not carrying the cards at this
point, and without them or some kind of credit card many players will be
cut off from Elder Scrolls tomorrow.
Zenimax, the publishers of Elder Scrolls online, have yet to comment on the billing issue.
