Twitch Plays Pokemon Crystal

by Joseph Knoop

The Twitch Plays Pokemon live stream, known for collectively defeating Pokemon Red in about 16 days, converted to Pokemon Crystal less than six hours ago. At time of writing, the stream is broadcasting to 80,000 people.

All the same rules apply, with stream viewers controlling in-game action through the comments section. Anarchy and Democracy modes still battle for control of the maniacal proceedings, with Anarchy looking like the current favorite.

Pokemon Crystal was my first Pokemon game growing up, and I'm no stranger to spending hours retaking Goldenrod City's radio tower, or capturing the legendary Suicune, so I can see this edition of TPP capturing an even broader range of viewers. We'll have to wait and see if the novelty has worn off, though. Let's not forget the most important part, however, being that evil little shrub Sudowoodo.
