Playstation 4 Price Rises in Canada

by Joseph Knoop

Sony Computer Entertainment of America confirmed Friday that the price of the Playstation 4 will increase by $50 in Canada, from $399.99 to $449.99. Prices for the Dualshock 4 controller and Playstation Camera will rise by $5.

SCEA said in a statement that the price increases are to "respond to changes in the market environment."

Many Playstation 4 and Xbox One games also experienced a $5 price increase in January. Sony confirmed that titles Infamous: Second Son and MLB 14 The Show will be priced at $69.99.

Fans of the Playstation 4 will no doubt remember the huge market point Sony had on their hands with pricing the console at $100 less than their competition. With the console sales gap shrinking, and Microsoft's recently released Xbox One bundle (which includes a free digital copy of Titanfall), gamers may have less reasons to flock to the Playstation 4.

This isn't the first time console prices were raised in Canada. The Playstation 3 increased its price by $40 in 2007.
