Spider-Man getting mini-series to tell origin story

by Nick Dowell

According to The AP's Matt Moore, Marvel is going back to Spider-Man's origins in a five-part story called "The Amazing Spider-Man Year One: Learning to Crawl."

Coming in May 2014, "Learning to Crawl" will run alongside the main "Amazing Spider-Man" series, being titled as "The Amazing Spider Man 1.1" through "1.5." It will follow a younger Peter Parker and be used to fill in some of the blanks in the origin story of everybody's favorite web-slinger.

"When you're looking at things in those issues, you're going:
"Wait a minute! How did this happen? How did he get this? Where did this come from? Why didn't Aunt May ever wonder about that'" said Dan Slott, writer for both "Learning to Crawl" and the main Spidey series. "You start looking at is closer and you go, 'There's a story here that we're not seeing.' A very pivotal and crucial story that lovingly respects everything that went on but tells you more, so much more about Spider-Man and so much more about Peter Parker."

According to Newsrama, the villain of the story, which will take place between earlier stories of the series written by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, will be a new one that may be Peter Parker's peer, in both age and focus.
