Pokemon Twitch Stream Slowly But Surely Plays Red/Blue

by Joseph Knoop

A collaborative streaming session, named "Twitch Plays Pokemon" is bringing together thousands of fans on the popular streaming service. An IRC bot translates each comment on the stream into the corresponding action. Viewers can comment with any of the controls found in a typical game of Pokemon Red/Blue, including "up," "down," "start," and "a," to name a few.

There's little moderation, resulting in a morbidly hilarious back and forth between commentator's actions and what actually needs to happen to progress through the story. If you want to catch up on what has happened, you can check that out here.

After two entire days, the stream is still going strong. It currently broadcasts to over 23 thousand people.
